Minimum Wage Increase

Minimum wage increase 2021: wages rise by 2.5%

The Fair Work Commission has announced a 2.5% increase to the national minimum wage for the 2021-22 financial year. The FWC has staggered the increase into three stages to lessen the impact on industries.

  • Stage 1 commencing from the first full pay period that starts on or after 1 July 2021.
  • Stage 2 commencing from the first full pay period that starts on or after 1 Sept 2021.
  • Stage 3 commencing from the first full pay period that starts on or after 1 Nov 2021.

What do you need to do?

On the Fair Work website in the Pay Calculator and Pay guides, you can find the new minimum rates that apply from your first full pay period on or after 1 July 2021. Fair Work will update our Pay Calculator and pay guides for the remaining awards closer to their start dates. For the list of awards that update later in the year, see When does the increase start?
