MyGovID is Becoming myID: What You Need to Know

By 24/10/2024Latest
MyGovID will soon be known as myID. This is to reduce the confusion between myGovID and myGov. While this change won’t cause any disruptions to your service, there are some things you need to know.

What’sWhat’s Staying the Same

  • Your login details and identity strength stay the same—there is no need to create a new account.
  • The app will automatically update to myID, or you can manually update it from Google Play or the App Store.
  • You’ll still have secure access to all government online services, just like before.

Beware of myGovID Scams

To protect yourself from scams involving fake websites or fraudulent versions of myID:
  • Don’t open unknown emails, texts, or attachments.
  • Only download the app from the App Store or Google Play.
  • Be cautious of SMS. Remember that the ATO will never send links via SMS.
  • Never share your myID code or log in on behalf of someone else.
As the myID rollout approaches, staying vigilant and prepared will ensure a smooth transition for businesses. For more updates, visit the ATO website or check your myGovID app notifications.
