GoCardless as a Payment Option for Diverse Hourly Rate Invoices

We are excited to announce that we have recently added GoCardless as a new payment method to our Diverse invoices. This means it will be easier for you to make payments for your bookkeeping invoices (those that are not already on an automated monthly fixed fee). 

All you have to do is select the “Pay Now” button when you receive the invoice via Xero, and it will give you two options for payment – you can pay via Stripe using a card, or you can now pay via GoCardless. This is like an automated direct debit. If you use the GoCardless option, you can also elect to have future invoices paid automatically, so you don’t have to go through the payment process again in the future. 

It will give you notifications when a future bill payment is scheduled so you can ensure you are always happy for this to go ahead. We hope that this reduces the manual payment requirements making it faster and easier to do business with Diverse.

If you didn’t know, GoCardless is a payment method that you can integrate into your Xero invoices that allows customers to pay easily through direct debit. You can also get authorisation from your customers to set up an ongoing direct debit for all future invoices. 

The payment process works as follows:

  1. Payment begins processing within 1-2 days of the invoice due date. 
  2. Xero marks the invoice as paid on the due date, but it can take a couple of days for the payment to arrive in your GoCardless account. 
  3. Xero reconciles the payment in your GoCardless clearing account. 
  4. GoCardless transfers the payout to your bank account.
  5. Xero records the GoCardless fee as an expense when the payout occurs.
